No. 388.-His Excellency the Governor in Council has been pleased to direct under section 7 of the Public Health and Buildings Ordinance, 1903, Ordinance No. 1 of 1903, that the name of Mr. WALTER HARGREAVES BOURNE be added to the List of Author- ized Architects published in Government Notification No. 198 of the 11th April, 1921.

No. 392.-The following Order of His Majesty in Council, which appeared in the London Gazette of the 8th May, 1925, is published for general information.

The following Regulation is substituted for the Regulation made by the Governor in Council under the Emergency Regulations Ordinance, 1922, Ordinance No. 5 of 1922, dated the 2nd July, 1925, published in the Gazette of Thursday, July 2nd, 1925, by Notification No. 386.

The Regulation made by the Governor in Council under the Emergency Regulations Ordinance, 1922, dated the 22nd June, 1925, published in the Gazette of Tuesday, June 23rd, 1925, by Notification No. 368 shall continue in force until and including the 7th July, 1995, but not thereafter.

N.B.-Notification No 385 repealed Notification No. 369 so far as it related to the nine banks mentioned by name in the Schedule to Notification No. 368; Notification No. 368 will cease to have effect as regards all native Chinese banks also, on 8th July (inclusive).

AT THE COURT AT BUCKINGILAM PALACE,

THE 2ND DAY OF MAY, 1925.

PRESENT;

THE KING'S MOST EXCELLENT MAJESTY IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section 84, Sub-Section 1 of the Merchant Shipping Act, 1891, it is enacted that wherever it appears to His Majesty in Council that the tonnage regulations of the said Act have been adopted by any foreign country and are in force there, His Majesty in Council may order that the ships of that country shall, without being remeasured in His Majesty's Dominions, he deemed to be of the tonnage denote in their certificates of registry or other national papers, in the same manner, to the same extent, and for the same purposes as the tonnage denoted in the certificate of registry of a British ship is deemed to be the tonnage of the ship:

And whereas it appears to His Majesty that the tonnage regulations of the said Aet have been adopted by the Government of Iceland, and are in force in that country:

Now, therefore, His Majesty is pleased, by and with the advice of His Privy Council, to order, and it hereby ordered, as follows:

1. This Order may be cite l as the Icelandic Tonnage Order, 1925.

2. The merchant ships of Iceland shall be deemed to be of the tonnage denoted in such certificates of registry or other national papers, in the same manner, to the same extent, and for the same purposes as the tonnage denoted in the certificate of registry of a British ship is deemed to be the tonnage of that ship.

APPOINTMENTS, &c.

No. 390.-His Majesty the KING has been pleased to approve the appointment of the Honourable Mr. ARCHIBALD ORR LANG to be an Unofficial Member of the Executive Council for the period during which the Honourable Sir IIEXRY EDWARD POLLOCK, Kt., K.C., acts as Attorney General.

No. 391.-His Excellency the Governor has been pleased to make the following promotions and appointments in the Hongkong Volunteer Defence Corps, with effect from the 2nd July, 1925 :-

Lieutenant SAMUEL JOHNSON JORDAIN, M.C., to be Captaiu. Sergeant ALAN PRISMALL to be Second Lieutenant.

Sergeant REGINALD ROBERT DAVIES, M.C., M.M., to be Second Lieutenant.

TREASURY.

No. 393. It is hereby notified for the information of Owners and Occupiers of tenements that, under the provisions of the Rating Ordinance, 1901, Ordinance No. 6 of 1901, Rates for the Third Quarter of 1925, are payable in advance on or before the 31st July, 1925.

If any person shall fail to pay such Rates on or before the 31st August, 1925, pro- ceedings will be taken in the Supreme Court for their recovery without further notice.

No refund of Rates in respect of vacant tenements will be granted unless such Rates have been paid during and within the mouth of July, 1925, nor unless application is made for such refund within fifteen days from the expiration of the Quarter.
